That is not exactly true. The truth is that pure or distilled water does not conduct electricity well at all.

So you might be asking, „than why does the water conduct electricity ?“. Well, the reason we get shocked when standing in electrified water is because water we come across will be contaminated by minerals – the main conductor, dirt, and other elements that are conductors of the electricity.
